Local resident Olga Osredkar, née Ravnik, remembers:

"There was a long row of shops, inns and craft workshops. There was a dairy in our house, Fad House (today’s Titova 36). Further down the street, there was the watchmaker Mavricij Smolej, and the Hrovat Inn and Pariz café. The Rožman House which housed the Peharc drug store was in front of the Hrovat House. After the Hrovat butchery, there were the Fur House, Poljšak’s Pošta Hotel with a little shop, and then the Morič shop, Baloh Inn and the Kovačič shop."

The newspaper advertisements from 1936 to 1939 show that the following businesses operated on Gosposvetska cesta street: Janko Bogataj’s fashion shop, Ivan Gogal’s tailor shop, Rezika Pintar’s hat shop, Fran Pavlin’s photo atelier, Josip Pogačnik’s shoe shop, Izvošček restaurant and Ivan Poljšak’s shop with regional produce in the Pošta Hotel, and Peter Sitar’s mixed goods shop.

Local resident Adela Burnik, née Baloh, remembers living in the Baloh House which used to also house an inn:

“All the neighbours, from Plavž to Javornik, used to come to our inn. Most of them were factory workers who stopped on their way home from work. The guests mainly ordered white and red wine, spirits, cognac, beer and mineral water. I remember May Day holidays when every guest received a Pelinkovec, a spirit drink that my mother made, and a small cigar as a gift. A particularly large room with a tiled stove was usually occupied. My father was happy to rent it out for free for various courses.”
